10-10-11 Loading Docks to get to Storage Units

As great as the many features of our climate controlled storage units might be, one of the ones that we get the most compliments on is our variety to loading docks. This allows different customers to more easily access units through loading docks that are complimentary to their transportation choices. We can give clients access at ground level, pickup truck height, and dock height. Moving is tough, but being able to get into our buildings easily makes it at least tolerable.

I was showing some potential clients a couple of different size storage units today when we came across one of our commercial clients who was loading out some product as he does every day. Our commercial client asked these folks if were looking at renting a storage room and they said that they were. He proceeded to tell them the Bast Storage is the best! WOW. Blew me away. He said it is so easy to work in the facility. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. These folks smiled and thanked him for the information. Thanks for the good feedback! So the State Fair has come and gone and we enjoyed some of the best Fair weather we have had in years – high temperatures in the 80′s, nights pleasant. Yet, now we are back to triple digit temperatures today. This is why climate controlled storage rocks. I say it all of the time on this site, but it is true: If you have possessions that are important to you and that you want to preserve in their current condition, you MUST look into climate controlled storage for them.

Normally, when the Missouri State Fair comes to town, Sedalians can count on the weather turning off nasty hot. This year, however, the weather has cooled for the Fair. 8-8-2011 Missouri Self Storage Owners Association Meeting

After some encouragement from a friend who is much bigger in the storage business than are we (at least for now!), we joined the MSSOA organization. Last week was their annual convention. I debated with myself as to my willingness to find the time to attend the meetings. Just did not know if it would be worth it. Man, did they put that doubt away early and often. I met a ton of folks who are professionals at running their storage businesses and they openly shared their ideas of how to make storage facilities better. Tron Jordheim was the main speaker on day one, and I came away with 4 pages of ideas on how to make Bast Storage better. Crazy good meetings with storage businesspeople (some climate controlled, most not) who really understand this industry. Now I need to get busy improving Bast Storage.

Are you kidding me?! I really like warm weather, but this is ridiculous! The outside temperature has been over 100 degrees in west central Missouri almost every day for the past two weeks. I know our energy bill is going to be high, but we are not wavering at Bast Storage. We are keeping these storage rooms cool and that is that. The beauty of doing that is that we are truly controlling the humidity inside the units and that is what saves the day. Come check us out. You might want to stay.

Bast has 6 foot hallways??? Some competitors say that is unheard of and a waste of space, but at Bast Storage, we want you to be able to move in/out as easily as possible. Let’s not forget the variations of dock level entries to the units. So, call us crazy but we want you to move around freely.

What funny weather this week has turned out to have. 100 degrees Tuesday, upper 90′s Wednesday, and 70 on Thursday. With this variations in weather, your outside storage units have the ability to allow weather damage to your possesions. Luckily, Bast’s entire storage facility is inside and at a comfortable temperature. This allows you to keep you items dry while storing them.
