Just came back from a trip around all three of our facilities, and I am constantly in awe of the way it feels walking through the hallways – particularly this time of year when the heat and humidity really builds on sunny days. It is like being in your office or home. Truly. Our storage rooms are Sedalia’s finest, and that is not just me bragging. When you walk in you will know. It has not flooded in Sedalia, but it rained enough to have done so. This is a crazy amount of rain, but things are completely dry inside Bast Storage and our climate controlled facilities. One of the things that controlling the climate does is to control the humidity that comes along with the rainy season. If your possessions are sitting in traditional outside storage, they may be covered but they are taking in the moisture that is in the air. If your things are inside one of Bast Storage’s climate-controlled rooms, they are being exposed to the elements only in the same way that they would be inside your own home – that is to say they are not exposed!

We are finding that businesses really like the climate controlled feature of our storage. This is a great environment in which to have employees working in a warehouse setting. Our spaces are such that we can accommodate businesses that are looking to outsource their warehouse capabilities to free up production space. Our space is proving to be great flex space for businesses on the move.
4-8-2010 Storage Facilities Need Pest Control

This is the time of the year that brings to light the need for pest control at all storage facilities. If storage operators are not diligent on this matter, it quickly gets out of control. Bast Storage employs professionals to be sure that our client’s possessions are protected in the best possible manner. We do not simply have it done once per year or when we see problems. Every month, professionals in the business come to Bast and treat the facilities so that problems do not develop.

If we only had weather like this, there would be no need for climate controlled storage in Sedalia, MO. However, this is the exception, not the rule as far as weather goes. Many of our customers are smart and take advantage of weather like this to move in to our climate controlled facilities. That way, they do not have to be laboring outside when you NEED to be in a climate controlled environment. I’m just sayin’!

It is about this time of year that the folks who have invested in climate controlled storage really begin to appreciate their decision. This is when the temperatures begin to change and the fluctuations can be severe. Temperatures that bounce to either side of freezing cause real problems for goods that have been stored in areas that are exposed to those fluctuations. Spend just a bit more for the comfort of knowing that your possessions are housed where the temperature just does not change much and where the climate is constantly comfortable.

For all that we boast of our clearly superior temperatures, our security systems are pretty sweet themselves. Our computer system monitors access and our security cameras “cover all of the action” as they say on the Olympic television coverage. All of this is part and parcel to what we do. Our newest section of climate controlled storage rooms is filling in a great way, and is finding that it has its own niche in the storage room/unit business. This area caters perfectly to those people using a pickup truck with which to move. Its dock is exactly at the perfect height to walk right into and out of a pickup truck bed; pretty sweet, really. That was the one height that we were missing. Now we can help everyone find the perfect room that is most easily accessed.

1-20-2010 Finally a Thaw in Sedalia!

We have finally been granted a reprieve from the ridiculously low temperatures that have been lingering across Missouri since Christmas day, and are beginning to thaw out in the Sedalia/central Missouri area. This is much needed – mentally! It does, however, present problems if you have your valued possessions stored in ordinary outdoor facilities – expanding and contracting of goods as the temperature changes. Inside Bast Storage, however, the temperature never changed! Our clients possessions were never subjected to those dramatic changes. Although we are not naive enough as good midwesterners to think that the cold temperatures are behind us for the winter, we know that we have an answer for the storage business when those nasty temperatures do return.
