Our newest section of climate controlled storage rooms is filling in a great way, and is finding that it has its own niche in the storage room/unit business. This area caters perfectly to those people using a pickup truck with which to move. Its dock is exactly at the perfect height to walk right into and out of a pickup truck bed; pretty sweet, really. That was the one height that we were missing. Now we can help everyone find the perfect room that is most easily accessed.

1-20-2010 Finally a Thaw in Sedalia!

We have finally been granted a reprieve from the ridiculously low temperatures that have been lingering across Missouri since Christmas day, and are beginning to thaw out in the Sedalia/central Missouri area. This is much needed - mentally! It does, however, present problems if you have your valued possessions stored in ordinary outdoor facilities - expanding and contracting of goods as the temperature changes. Inside Bast Storage, however, the temperature never changed! Our clients possessions were never subjected to those dramatic changes. Although we are not naive enough as good midwesterners to think that the cold temperatures are behind us for the winter, we know that we have an answer for the storage business when those nasty temperatures do return.

The recent heavy doses of snow that we have received in Sedalia and Pettis County sure looks pretty, and it is not inconvenient unless you have to be out in it. However, if the possessions that you hold dear are stored in a rental unit in which they might be exposed to these elements, it is inconvenient. It is inconvenient when you go to retrieve these cherished possessions and they have been ruined because they took in moisture when the humidity was high, and that moisture froze and thawed when the weather changed to what we have been experiencing lately. For only a few dollars more each month, you can retrieve the same items that were put into storage. If they are worth storing, they are worth storing for keeps. Bast Storage can do that for you.
12-11-2009 Will the Real Climate Controlled Storage Please Stand Up

When we say that we are a climate controlled storage facility, we are serious. “Industry standards” as to temperatures that most climate controlled storage businesses keep their facilities are embarrassing! We keep our rooms 65 -70 degrees in the winter and 73-78 degrees in the summer. Compare that to “industry standards” of 45-55 degrees in the winter and 85-90 degrees in the summer! Why do they even bother trying to control the climate if they are only going to do so in a lame fashion. If you are looking at renting some space, ask at what temperature the facility is kept. You may be surprised. Please know that we going to continue to keep Bast Storage at temperatures that are apparently much nicer than “industry standards.”

As is normally the case in Sedalia and West Central Missouri, this time of year moves people and businesses to look for additional storage. This has increased rentals in the last few weeks. I am not sure why the change of the season prompts us all to do this, I only know that it happens. If you have possessions that deserve a decent place for the winter, please give us a call. It is during this time of year that clients notice the benefits of climate controlled storage the most. That is because it is during this time that it becomes most noticeable that the possessions that they have stored in a controlled climate environment have NOT taken in moisture as they would have in an outside unit. If you store possessions outside, the humidity gets into them. When the temperature outside changes dramatically, the resulting expansion and contraction of that moisture begins to damage the goods. Goods stored inside are not exposed to the massive Missouri humidity nor the temperature changes.
