As is normally the case in Sedalia and West Central Missouri, this time of year moves people and businesses to look for additional storage. This has increased rentals in the last few weeks. I am not sure why the change of the season prompts us all to do this, I only know that it happens. If you have possessions that deserve a decent place for the winter, please give us a call. It is during this time of year that clients notice the benefits of climate controlled storage the most. That is because it is during this time that it becomes most noticeable that the possessions that they have stored in a controlled climate environment have NOT taken in moisture as they would have in an outside unit. If you store possessions outside, the humidity gets into them. When the temperature outside changes dramatically, the resulting expansion and contraction of that moisture begins to damage the goods. Goods stored inside are not exposed to the massive Missouri humidity nor the temperature changes.

Our prices for storage space are such that I am surprised that more folks from further away do not see the cost/benefit to driving a bit further for huge savings on monthly rates. People and businesses from Kansas City and Columbia could easily justify driving their possessions, inventory, records, etc. to Sedalia due to the considerably lower monthly rental rates. If you live in Sedalia, these types of rates make storing outside look unreasonable.

Because all of our storage rooms are inside a secure building, they are actually easier to access. Our clients can choose dock-high, pickup truck-high, of walk-in access to our properties depending on what is best for them. Most facilities offer ground level only, forcing customers to get their goods to the level of the facility. You tell us how you will be bringing it to us, and we will accommodate.

We seem to always refer to the spaces at our facilities as storage rooms instead of storage units. This is because they have the feel of a room in your house rather than a “unit” - whatever that is. We think of it as more comparable to a hotel room in terms of quality. When you have climate controlled space, it is unique.

Probably the thing that sets climate controlled storage apart from outside storage more than anything other than the obvious - temperature - is the vast difference in cleanliness. There is just no way to keep outside storage units clean enough so that household goods, valuable documents, heirloom possessions, etc., can be kept in good condition. We sweep in our facilities almost daily. It makes a difference.

Not only do we have the most widely used climate controlled storage facility in the Sedalia/Pettis County area, but we have prices that are literally 1/3 those in metropolitan areas. It frankly makes sense for folks to bring their possessions from far and wide to our Sedalia location, and some do. If a person were to do a cost/benefit analysis, he or she could clearly justify the extra time spent driving to our location from even Kansas City by the difference in just a few months’ rent. Call us. It makes sense.

Having over 60 different size rooms at Bast Storage is a huge advantage, and one that we have purposely created. If a storage facility only has 50, 100, and 200 square feet rooms, then you are likely paying for unused space. If you can fit all of your possessions into a unit that is 165 sq. ft., you will save $9/month. Every year, that is over $100 - nothing at which to sneeze in this environment.
