We seem to always refer to the spaces at our facilities as storage rooms instead of storage units. This is because they have the feel of a room in your house rather than a “unit” – whatever that is. We think of it as more comparable to a hotel room in terms of quality. When you have climate controlled space, it is unique.

Probably the thing that sets climate controlled storage apart from outside storage more than anything other than the obvious – temperature – is the vast difference in cleanliness. There is just no way to keep outside storage units clean enough so that household goods, valuable documents, heirloom possessions, etc., can be kept in good condition. We sweep in our facilities almost daily. It makes a difference.
8-25-2009 Climate Controlled Storage Prices Like No Other

Not only do we have the most widely used climate controlled storage facility in the Sedalia/Pettis County area, but we have prices that are literally 1/3 those in metropolitan areas. It frankly makes sense for folks to bring their possessions from far and wide to our Sedalia location, and some do. If a person were to do a cost/benefit analysis, he or she could clearly justify the extra time spent driving to our location from even Kansas City by the difference in just a few months’ rent. Call us. It makes sense.

Having over 60 different size rooms at Bast Storage is a huge advantage, and one that we have purposely created. If a storage facility only has 50, 100, and 200 square feet rooms, then you are likely paying for unused space. If you can fit all of your possessions into a unit that is 165 sq. ft., you will save $9/month. Every year, that is over $100 – nothing at which to sneeze in this environment.

Although we have been enjoying some of the most beautiful summer weather that any of us can remember, there has been plenty of humidity, and that spells trouble for cherished possessions stored in traditional outside storage units. Fact is, when you use air conditioning, you are conditioning the air! Even though the heat has not been oppressive, the damage is likely done by the silent assassin – humidity, or lack thereof. I continue to refer to our facilities as “self storage” facilities, but that is not being fair. In fact, our facilities are much more than self storage. Our facilities are home to commercial, industrial, professional, and governmental clients as well. By using the word “self,” the connotation is that only individuals or homeowners find this service to be of use which is clearly not the case. We like to think that we are the new face of self-storage in Sedalia, Missouri. The days of storing anything other than cars or boats in old storage facilities with outside facing doors are gone. As the summer heats up in Sedalia, Missouri, Bast Storage is staying its consistent temperature. It feels great compared to the hot, humid weather outside in this area. If your furniture, possessions, records, etc. could thank you, they would if you had stored them in one of our facilities. It is days like this (94 degrees with humidity in the 80%+ range) that make the case for climate controlled storage.
